“Brainstorming is a group creativity technique by which a group tries to find a solution for a specific problem by amassing a list of ideas spontaneously contributed its members.” Wikipedia

Brainstorming is a fundamental stage of any project. It’s the moment where you unite your team and just think about the different solutions for the project you are developing.

Through brainstorming you can create ideas for differnt projects. Product design, graphic design, programming, branding, marketing strategies as well as services.

Brainstorming does not need to be just with designers throwing their ideas, but actually it should involve every single member of people related to the project. Designers, marketeers, programmers and, why not, clients.

Get your team working together to think about a different approach, look into the problems from different angles and you might be surprise to see so many innovative ideas arising from a 10 minute brainstorm.

This stage of the project is very important in the academic world and we learn to sepend quite a long time brainstorming with our colegues and exchanging ideas, thinking about all thediffernt paths and solutions we can develop while studying at university as designers. However, somehow this important stage it’s, many times, overseen in the professional field.

Some could argue that this is because there is  a tide dealine or that the brief is to specific, however, as designers, we always go through the process of brainstorming. The difference is that many times we do it on our own,  which then means that sometimes the ideas can be relatively restrictive.

The more we exchange ideas and think as a group for different solutions, higher are the chances of reaching more creative and inovative solutions. So… let get that branstoming habbit into our offices.
